Hard frosts with sub-zero temperatures dominated the middle of the month and with the daytime thermometer barely moving above freezing the bitter spell brought a dusting of snow on the 20th. When mild wet weather duly arrived from the south during the last week, torrential rain fell the night of the 26th. For the last three days, however, the temperature fell to minus two degrees on successive mornings.
